The short answer
LinkedIn ghostwriting for Hong Kong executives turns finance and business expertise into 3 to 5 posts a week, written in your voice from a monthly interview. Anyone in a licensed role should keep posts clear of investment advice, because the SFC actively pursues unlicensed finfluencers. Postlit works remotely from India, 2.5 hours behind Hong Kong.
Why LinkedIn matters in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a dense, finance-heavy LinkedIn market. NapoleonCat counted about 4.58 million LinkedIn users in Hong Kong in September 2026, around 59.7% of the population, with 48% aged 25 to 34. For a city of its size, that is a concentrated audience of bankers, asset managers, lawyers, insurers, family-office professionals and the founders who sell to them.
Hong Kong is also a bridge. LinkedIn is not a mainstream platform for mainland Chinese professionals, so a Hong Kong leader's LinkedIn is usually aimed at international investors, regional peers and global employers, while mainland relationships run through other channels. That makes LinkedIn the place where Hong Kong leaders explain the Greater China market to everyone else.
Who we write for in Hong Kong
| Leader | Primary goal | What the posts need |
|---|---|---|
| Asset manager or private banker | Visibility with clients and peers, talent | Market education, never recommendations |
| Family-office principal or next-gen leader | Deal flow and reputation | Governance, succession, investment philosophy in general terms |
| Fintech or virtual-asset founder | Partners, licensing credibility, investors | Regulatory journey, product clarity |
| Regional executive at a multinational | Standing with HQ and regional clients | Greater China insight framed for a global reader |
| Founder or professional relocating to or from Hong Kong | Network and credibility | Why Hong Kong, what the move taught them |

SFC and other rules we write around
Licensing and finfluencers. The SFC treats offering investment advice or promoting investment products as regulated activity that needs a licence, and it has acted on that. An unlicensed finfluencer who ran a paid Telegram group with stock recommendations received a six-week prison sentence, the first custodial sentence of its kind in Hong Kong, as reported by Finance Magnates. The Investor and Financial Education Council also warns investors to check whether finfluencers are licensed. For licensed representatives, a separate risk is giving advice in a personal capacity outside your firm's controls. We keep your posts on market education, process and perspective, never on what to buy or sell, and flag any post that names a security for your compliance team.
Firm policies. Most Hong Kong banks and asset managers have strict social media policies, often requiring pre-approval. We build your weekly batch to fit that approval cycle rather than fighting it.
Doctors. The Medical Council of Hong Kong reads "practice promotion" broadly, including publicity by others on a doctor's behalf, according to Kennedys' analysis of the 2022 revision of its Code of Professional Conduct. Doctors should keep LinkedIn to professional education and announcements the Code allows. See our doctors page.
Hong Kong tone and language
- English for LinkedIn, Chinese awareness in the content. Hong Kong business LinkedIn runs mainly in English. Occasional Traditional Chinese posts can work for a local audience, and we recommend a native reviewer for those; we write the English.
- Understated authority. Hong Kong readers respect seniority and track records. A calm, precise post from a managing director carries more weight than an energetic one.
- Relationships first. Credit partners, clients (with permission) and mentors. Public criticism of a named firm or person is rarely wise.
- Neutrality. We keep posts away from politics and cross-border political commentary entirely, and focus on markets, business and people.
A hook we might draft for a hypothetical Hong Kong family-office CIO: "Our family has owned the same industrial business for three generations. The hardest investment conversation was not about returns. It was about who sits on the board."
Time zones and the async process
Hong Kong is 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of India, and neither side changes clocks, so the overlap is stable all year. In practice:
- The monthly 45-minute interview fits late morning or early afternoon Hong Kong time, which is our morning.
- Drafts arrive as a weekly batch in a shared document before your Monday, timed for your compliance pre-approval.
- Approval takes about 20 minutes of your week, plus whatever your compliance team needs.
- Posting and engagement follow Hong Kong business hours, with some posts timed for London or New York if your audience is there.
Postlit has no Hong Kong office. Every engagement is remote.
Budgets in Hong Kong dollars
We do not publish our own prices. Gliped's 2026 guide puts LinkedIn retainers at $500 to $1,500 a month for entry-level providers, $2,000 to $5,000 for mid-market and $6,000 to $10,000 or more for premium executive work. With the Hong Kong dollar pegged at around 7.8 to the US dollar, that is roughly HK$3,900 to 11,700, HK$15,600 to 39,000 and HK$47,000 or more a month. See our cost guide.
A sample month for a Hong Kong asset manager
For a hypothetical portfolio manager at a mid-sized Hong Kong fund:
| Week | Post | Why it works in Hong Kong |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | "I have sat through 40 IPO roadshows in Hong Kong. The best management teams all answered one question the same way." | Experience-based, no stock named |
| 2 | Carousel: how a fund's investment committee actually works, step by step | Education, transparent process |
| 3 | A mentor story from early in a career at a Central bank | Relationship-first, human |
| 4 | A measured explainer on a new regulatory consultation and what it changes for fund operations | Authority, compliance-safe |
How Postlit works with Hong Kong leaders
- Send a short form by WhatsApp or email. A founder replies with a written free LinkedIn teardown, the three changes we would make first, usually within a few hours IST. A 30-minute call follows only if it is a fit.
- Interview and positioning. One 45-minute voice interview, a profile rewrite and a 90-day plan tied to one goal: clients, deal flow, hiring or a raise.
- We write, you approve. Three to five posts a week, built around your firm's pre-approval process.
- We engage and report. Comments on the posts of peers and prospective clients, warm DMs flagged, a monthly report.
Engagements are scoped on a call. See our LinkedIn ghostwriting service.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Hong Kong fund manager post market views on LinkedIn?
Yes, with care. General market education, process explanations and career lessons are usually fine. Posts that recommend specific securities or promote investment products can be regulated activity, and the SFC has prosecuted unlicensed finfluencers. Licensed staff should also follow their firm's pre-approval rules.
Should Hong Kong executives post on LinkedIn in English or Chinese?
Mostly English, because Hong Kong's LinkedIn audience is largely international and English-reading. Occasional Traditional Chinese posts can connect with local readers, ideally reviewed by a native speaker. LinkedIn is not mainstream among mainland Chinese professionals, so it is not the right channel for that audience.
Is LinkedIn useful for Hong Kong family offices?
Yes, for reputation, deal flow and hiring, if handled discreetly. Principals and CIOs can write about governance, succession and investment philosophy in general terms without revealing holdings. Posts should never read as an offer to invest, and anything naming a deal should be approved by the parties involved.
How much does a LinkedIn ghostwriter cost in Hong Kong?
Published market ranges are in US dollars: about $500 to $1,500 a month for freelancers, $2,000 to $5,000 for mid-market agencies and $6,000 to $10,000 or more for premium executive work. With the Hong Kong dollar pegged near 7.8, that is roughly HK$3,900 to over HK$47,000 a month.
How does an India-based ghostwriter work with Hong Kong compliance pre-approval?
We send the week's posts as one batch early enough for your compliance team to review before publishing. Hong Kong is 2.5 hours ahead of India year-round, so revisions are done the same day. Postlit works remotely and has no Hong Kong office.
